To all to whom these presents shall come­greetings


Know ye, that in consideration of a purchase made at sale of school-land in the Ocoee District, dated the 30th day of November, 1847, by Joseph Hawkins, the certificate of purchase being assigned to James H. Norman there is granted by the said State of Tennessee, to the said James H. Norman and his heirs, a certain tract or parcel of Land, containing 160 acres, lying in the county of Bradley in the said District, situate in the First range, West of the basis line, second township, and 16th section, being the School Section and the South West Quarter of said Section:- Beginning at the South West corner of said Quarter, with its appurtenances, to have and to hold the said Tract or Parcel of Land, with its appurtenances, to the said James H. Norman and his heirs forever.

In Witness whereof, Isham G. Harris, Governor of the State of Tennessee, hath hereunto set his hand, and caused the Great Seal of the State to be affixed at Nashville, on the 25th day of September, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty-nine, and of American Independence the Eighty-Fourth.
